A club that has endured for more than 130 years learns one lesson above all others: tradition survives only when it is handed on. It is in that spirit that the Board of Governors is pleased to announce the Junior Membership Program, welcoming its first cohort this autumn.
Why Now
Many of our most devoted members first came to the Club as children — at family lunches, tennis lessons, and holiday celebrations. Yet the years between university and established career have too often been the years we lose them. Junior Membership is designed to close that gap, offering accomplished young professionals aged 21 to 35 a meaningful place in Club life at a dues structure suited to the early years of a career.
The program was shaped over eighteen months of consultation with members across every generation, including a working group of members' sons and daughters whose candor improved it immeasurably. Their message was consistent: they wanted not a diluted version of the Club, but a genuine one.
What Junior Membership Includes
Junior Members enjoy full access to the dining rooms, fitness center, courts, and the newly opened Wellness Wing, along with a dedicated calendar of programming: quarterly networking dinners hosted by senior members, a speaker series on career and civic life, and reciprocal privileges at partner clubs in London, Singapore, and New York.
Dues are set at a graduated rate that rises gently with age, reaching full membership levels at 36 — at which point Junior Members transition to full membership without a second initiation fee. Sponsorship requirements remain unchanged: two letters from members in good standing, reflecting our belief that character, not merely accomplishment, is the measure of a member.
How to Apply
Applications for the inaugural cohort open on July 1 and close on August 15, with interviews conducted through early September. The first Junior Members will be welcomed at a reception during the autumn season opening.
Members wishing to sponsor a candidate — a son, daughter, colleague, or friend — are invited to contact the Membership Office or visit the membership page for full details. We look forward to introducing the Club to a generation that will, in time, carry it forward.
